The Denza D9 has landed in Indonesia.
Slow start of the year for Indonesian new vehicle sales. Wholesales are down -11.7% year-on-year in January to 61,843 while retail sales are off -18.4% to 63,858. Toyota (+5.2%) goes against the negative market with a small year-on-year uptick leading it to a 35.7% share vs. 33.4% over the Full Year 2024. In contrast Daihatsu (-30.5%), Honda (-13.5%), Mitsubishi (-27.8%), Suzuki (-18.8%) and Hyundai (-23.1%) all fall faster than the market. Mitsubishi Fuso (+3.5%) and to a lesser extent Isuzu (-6.1%) and Hino (-8.5%) resist in a strong month for heavy commercial vehicles. Newcomer BYD returns inside the Top 10 at #10 but with a weak 1.8% share, its lowest so far. Denza launches at #27.
Toyota (-12.7%) doesn’t fare so well in the retail charts but still beat the market to 33.8% share. Daihatsu (-33.4%) is in total freefall at 17.7% share, distancing Honda (-12.6%), Mitsubishi (-27.5%) and Suzuki (-30.4%). The entire Top 10 is in negative, with Hino (-6.2%), Wuling (-17.4%) and Mitsubishi Fuso (-17.8%) limiting their fall somewhat. BYD drops two spots on December to #12 and is outsold by fellow Chinese fare Chery (+347%) at #11.
Model-wise, the Toyota Kijang Innova (-2%) returns to the top spot it held both over the Full Year 2023 and 2025 with a splendid 8.4% share. The Honda Brio (-12.7%) is up two spots on December to #2 and the Daihatsu Sigra (-36.3%), #1 a year ago in January 2024, completes the podium. The Daihatsu Gran Max Pickup (+18.2%) and Toyota Rush (+22.9%) follow, both in great shape. The Toyota Agya (+3.7%) is the only additional Top 10 model in positive.
